MEDITATION and CONTEMPLATION

MEDITATION and CONTEMPLATION

MEDITATION is a practice of awareness through which the mind is trained to become more present, stable, clear, and, if desired, compassionate as well.
It is a method for observing one’s inner reality — thoughts, emotions, sensations —
with attention, openness, and without judgment.
Meditation is transmitted through various traditions.
Shamatha and Vipashyana are two types of meditation that I share.
The intent of Shamatha is to lead to calm abiding, and that of Vipashyana to introspection.

CONTEMPLATION, Maitri in Sanskrit and Metta in Pali,
is a practice aimed at cultivating loving-kindness and benevolence toward oneself and others.
Through contemplation, one develops an attitude of openness and warmth that fosters more genuine relationships
and a deeper understanding of oneself. It is a path that invites us to recognize our connection with others
and to nurture a sense of harmony and respect toward life in all its forms.
