h 14:30 - 17:30

Description
This WS is part of a cycle of 4 separate workshops taking place during 2025/26.
It is possible to attend just one or all 4 with a discounted price.
Each workshop includes both a technical and a laboratory section.

Technique_Warm-up on the floor, center exercises, short diagonal combinations.
The teaching approach I use for dancers, actors, performers, amateurs, or professionals is based on three key aspects: MOVEMENT, CREATIVITY, AWARENESS, where the body is the central expressive instrument.
To do this, I draw inspiration from various techniques and methods, both from contemporary dance such as Release, Floor Work, and Limón, and from somatic disciplines, including Yoga, Pilates, Bartenieff, and Alexander.
All methodologies and systems that I have studied and practiced over the years, from which I draw to share knowledge and principles of movement.

Lab_Improvisation and Composition
A fundamental component of the workshop – in addition to the technical part – is dedicated to improvisation and (almost) instant composition, seen as catalysts to stimulate curiosity, creativity, and the willingness to research and experiment without judgment.
We will train attention and listening – to oneself, to others, and to the scenic space – to experience that fundamental openness which is at the core of “making theatre.”
Through specific tools, each participant will be guided in discovering their own poetics of movement, leading towards an authentic and personal bodily and compositional language.

WORKSHOP
CONTEMPORARY DANCE
IMPROVISATION AND COMPOSITION

CASALE SUL SILE - TREVISO
for ARTE STUDIO NEXTAGE

SANDAY, February 08, 2026

10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
and
2:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Address:
Via Isonzo 27
Casale sul Sile, Treviso, Italy

DESCRIPTION

This workshop comprises two separate sessions.
Both will include a technical section and a lab section.

In the afternoon session, which is 30 minutes longer than the morning one, we’ll delve deeper into the laboratory component.

Technik

The first part of the session is dedicated to warming up the body—starting on the floor, then moving upright and through the space. It draws from various contemporary dance techniques encountered over the years (Joss-Laban, Nikolais, Limón, Cunningham, Floorwork), enriched by somatic practices such as Feldenkrais and yoga.

This practice is filtered through a lens of personal movement research and experience, emphasizing grounding and lightness, energy, and the quality of movement.

Lab

In the second part, we step into the unknown realm of improvisation and (almost) instant composition. Participants will train their attention and listening skills—to themselves and others—to foster the essential openness required for theatrical expression.

Specific “tools” will be introduced, allowing participants to develop a personal poetic approach to movement and a unique danced and compositional language.

In this phase, guided improvisation and heightened perception take center stage. Movement becomes both a medium for expression, exploration, and discovery and a practice of listening and attentiveness toward oneself, others, and the scenic space.

CONTEMPORARY DANCE,
IMPROVISATION AND COMPOSITION

ESTE-PADOVA

Exclusive to members of the RIZOMA DANZE school (Este).
Open to external participants only if there are remaining spots available.

Sunday, February 2, 2025
4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

RIZOMA DANZE
Via Borgofuro, 1a
35042 Este, Padova, Italy

DESCRIPTION

Technique
The first part of the class focuses on warming up the body, beginning on the floor, then transitioning to verticality and moving through space. This draws from various contemporary dance techniques encountered over the years (Joss-Laban, Nikolais, Limón, Cunningham, Floorwork) combined with somatic practices such as Feldenkrais and Yoga.

All of this is integrated through a personal exploration of movement, guided by observation, experience, and research.
Rootedness and lightness, energy, and quality of movement form the foundation of the technical work.

Lab
The second part delves into the unknown territory of improvisation and (almost) instantaneous composition. Participants will train their focus and listening—to themselves and others—to cultivate the essential openness required for theatrical creation.

Participants will be introduced to “tools” that enable them to find their own danced and compositional language through a personal movement poetics.

In this phase, guided improvisation and perception play fundamental roles. Movement becomes a means of expression, exploration, and discovery, while listening and attention are practiced both inwardly and outwardly, in connection with the stage space.

CREATIVE DANCE WORKSHOP
with a FINAL CHOREOGRAPHIC PROJECT

WHERE:
Finow Grundschule, Berlin

WHEN:
From the end of February to the end of April 2017

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The creative dance workshop is divided into two parts: one dedicated to body preparation (warm-up) and the other to creative and compositional exploration.

Through play, children discover the endless potential and possibilities of movement.
The workshop aims to stimulate and develop the creativity that is present in every child.

Throughout the process, children are guided to refine their sense of space, rhythm, coordination, and listening — not only through music provided by the teacher but also by tuning in to their own inner rhythm.

OBJECTIVES

  • Develop greater self-confidence and body awareness

  • Improve motor skills while also encouraging the joy of discovering a personal dance language

  • Enhance trust, self-esteem, and the ability to connect with others

  • Foster a sense of teamwork and collaboration through a creative process

CONCLUSION

The workshop will conclude with the presentation of two choreographed pieces, the result of the shared creative journey, to be performed at Tanz in den Mai 2017 and other school events.
